<image:title>Home - Young Einsteins is a half day preschool program for children ages 3-5 years old.</image:title>
<image:caption>At Young Einsteins the child is seen as competent, capable and intelligent. Children are encouraged to make their own decisions, work in collaboration with peers and in coordination with the teachers. What the children are experiencing, thinking, planning and creating is the focus and intent in the classroom with minimal focus on rules and routines. We know children have a great deal to offer the classroom, teachers listen to the children’s ideas and encourage them to share their thoughts and ideas. We also value their dislikes and concerns.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home - Young Einsteins is a Reggio Emilia inspired preschool located in Sauquoit, NY on several acres of land.</image:title>
<image:caption>Children are given the opportunity for gardening, caring for chickens, caring for birds, observing pond life creatures in the natural habitat and being outside in touch with the natural world. Young Einsteins believes in active education. Through valuable conversations with children, I, the teacher, act as a researcher, carefully observing and then curating items to put in the classroom to enhance their experience. By doing this, the classroom acts as the third teacher, intended to stimulate thinking.</image:caption>

Children have the opportunity for experimental learning at Young Einsteins as they practice good citizenship, create solutions and have the space to understand themselves and the world around them.</image:caption>

<image:title>Inside the Classroom - Classroom Design is intended for children to be producers, not consumers.</image:title>
<image:caption>The classroom setting plays a strong role in germinating children’s thinking. In Reggio the classroom acts as the third teacher, allowing natural materials for play to promote questions and thinking by the child. Based on the children’s interests and discoveries the environment changes as projects emerge and evolve. The classroom maintains minimal transitions, to avoid children’s work and engagement being interrupted. This allows the child to maintain strong concentration and focus on their work, pretend play, art projects and sensory projects.</image:caption>

<image:title>Meet Maria - Young Einsteins was inspired by my own children, wanting to offer them the best experiences I knew possible for their early years.</image:title>
<image:caption>I am originally from Utica, NY. I started working in child care in 1997 and instantly gained a passion in working with young children and a vision to one day own a school. Throughout my time living in Charlotte for 6 years, Ithaca NY for 6 years I continued in the field as a teacher, curriculum specialist, an Assistant Director and an Executive Director. In 2010 I gave birth to my son, we moved back to the Utica area and I began the process to start a school. Young Einsteins opened its doors in August 2011 when I also discovered I was pregnant again with my second child. In April 2012 I was raising both my son and my daughter in Young Einsteins.</image:caption>

<image:title>Meet Maria - I opened Young Einsteins, a Reggio Inspired preschool, in 2011.</image:title>
<image:caption>Since then my journey has been filled with inspiration as I witnesses how learning unfolds naturally when children are giving the time to extend and deepen their thinking. I believe in giving children an opportunity for discovery and serenity, to create an atmosphere where children, teachers and parents feel at ease and to create and sustain interaction, relationships and cooperation among all individuals involved with the school.</image:caption>

<image:title>Reggio Emilia - History of the Reggio Emilia Approach.</image:title>
<image:caption>The schools of Reggio Emilia derives its name from place of origin, a northern city located in Emilia Romagna, Northern Italy. These schools were built after World War II by a collaboration of parents lead by the founder of the Reggio Emilia Approach, Loris Malaguzzi. A small amount of government funding was given to each town in Italy after the war to use in any way seen fit to restore the sense of community. Malaguzzi believed that young children were contributors to society and saw them as an investment in the future. Malaguzzi and parents worked together in building a foundation that fosters childrens intellectual development through a process of allowing children to explore their environment, express their understandings while educators are involved scaffolding with the child(ren).</image:caption>

<image:caption>At Young Einsteins Preschool, the child is seen as competent, capable and intelligent.

<image:title>Reggio Emilia (Copy) - Allowing children to explore their environment, express their understandings while educators are involved scaffolding with the child(ren).</image:title>

      <image:title>Meet Maria (Copy)</image:title>
<image:caption>I am originally from Utica, NY. I started working in child care in 1997 and instantly gained a passion in working with young children and a vision to one day own a school. At that time I felt a strong sense of how 3 and 4 year olds were challenged every day with social competence. In 2002, while working at Bright Horizons Family Solutions, in Charlotte, NC as Preschool Coordinator, I was introduced to The Reggio Emilia Approach. This changed my life in the field of early childhood, as my perception on teaching shifted to have much more meaning, seeing children as competent and intelligent thinkers. After living in Charlotte for 6 years my husband and I moved to Ithaca NY where I continued in the field as a teacher, an Assistant Director and an Executive Director. In 2010 I gave birth to my son, we moved back to the Utica area and I began the process to start a school. Young Einsteins opened its doors in August 2011 when I also discovered I was pregnant again with my second child. In April 2012 I was raising both my son and my daughter in Young Einsteins, offering them the best experiences I knew possible for their early years.</image:caption>

<image:title>Home (Copy) - Young Einsteins is a Reggio Emilia inspired preschool located in Sauquoit, NY on several acres of land.</image:title>
